What MechanicScan is

MechanicScan gives an independent estimate of a fair price for car repairs, based on typical labor times, parts prices and labor rates. It is information to help you ask better questions. It is not a repair quote, an inspection, a diagnosis or professional advice, and it is not a guarantee of what any shop will charge.

Your decisions

Always have a qualified mechanic look at your car before deciding on a repair. Safety-related repairs (brakes, steering, tires, suspension) should never be skipped because of a price estimate. You are responsible for the decisions you make with the information.

Free checks and passes

• Free use: up to 3 checks a day per connection.
• 24-hour pass ($4.99): the full report on every check for 24 hours from purchase, up to 30 checks a day.
• 1-year pass ($29.99): the same for 365 days, for any of your cars.
• Passes are one-time payments through Stripe and never renew. A pass is saved on the device and browser you bought it on.
• If something went wrong with your purchase (for example the report did not open), contact us within 14 days for a refund.

Fair use

Don't use automated tools to scrape the site or run checks in bulk, and don't try to get around the daily limits.

Liability

The service is provided “as is”. Estimates can be wrong. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months.

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
